The Bunch Of Us

Back Porch Swing http://www.backporchswing.ca/

Since 2003 Back Porch Swing has been writing songs and performing at festivals and clubs across western Canada. Their hot licks, tight harmonies, and funny lyrics are delivered in ever-changing musical styles that will have you wondering"what don't they do?" From square dancing to western swing, from bluegrass to folk, their "cowjazz" flavor will surely leave you a fan.

The Recipe http://www.wix.com/iketeku/therecipe

On November 14th 2009, four poets representing the city of Ottawa were crowned the champions of the 2009 Canadian Festival of Spoken word in Victoria, British Columbia

Those four poets, Emcee- E (Ian Keteku), OpenSecret (Ikenna Onyegbula), Poetic Speed (Komi Olafimihan) and Brandon Wint come together to create Canada's spoken word super-group, The Recipe; serving you the most ecclectic food for thought.

Namgar http://www.khomus.com/music/group/buryatiamongolia/namgar

The folk group "Namgar" is the only Moscow group sticking to the indigenous music tradition of Southern Siberia and Mongolia . On one hand, their see their mission in the revival of the unique singing material dating back to the ancient times of nomads. To this stuff belong:
a)Buryats' dancing songs, such as the shaman's "Nerien" and the merry "Yohor";
b) playing songs of the Ring;
c) Mongol legends about beauties and epic heros, about powerful horse racers and the endless steppe. On the other hand, the group's creative work is a drive for a new music language, in which old folk tunes are combined with modern composition and arrangement technologies.

Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra http://www.thetequilamockingbirdorchestra.com/

Emerging as Canada's most exciting young roots band, The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra's faithful underground following has expanded to National awareness and will see them playing festivals and stages across Canada and The US!

This year has had a lot of surprises in store for the band with no town to call their home. After attending the Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis Tennessee this February, peaking interest from festivals and venues across the US and Canada, the band surprisingly had to cancel their spring recording session and spring tour at the very last minute. But with new music bursting from the seams, it took very little time to reschedule a more creative session for June. The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra  spent the month of June in a cabin on a farm, with no electricity....on a quite island......off of another quiet island..... creating, merging, and once again melding with expertise, their version of gypsy-roots-folk-grass.
