“Just as Nixi scrunches up her nose at those who fail to live in the moment, her beautiful voice and folk melodies remind us that changing the world really isn’t a lost cause…”  Exclaim!
‘Tanyss Nixi was raised by her Aunt and Uncle in a northern Alberta prairie town.  Think of it as the Canadian Texas, if you like, except for the long cold winters (-45 degrees celcius is not uncommon).  Combine this isolation with an unsettled childhood, a fierce independence, and an appreciation for beauty in all forms (including some of the darker aspects of human nature)- and you’ve got the recipe for this wonderful music…’  BMT
Favourite Influences = Mazzy Star, Neko Case, Cocteau Twins, PJ Harvey, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch, John Lennon, David Bowie, Paul Simon, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, this list is impossible…
James Patterson co-wrote and arranged most of the material on the new album, and performed the lead guitar tracks.  He is originally from Tunbridge Wells, England made famous (for me, anyway) by the quote at the end of Lawrence of Arabia- “On the whole, I wish I’d stayed in Tunbridge Wells.”  James apparently does not share that sentiment, as he has happily lived in North America for the past seven years.
James has a Bachelor of Fine Art from UCE Birmingham and is an accomplished oil painter, photographer and graphic artist.
