So my name is Oliver Thiessen, not Oliver Twist and not Oliver and
Company. I am a musician or at least I attempt to be one. Some people
would call me a folk musician, I would hope to be in the line of the
indie - folk musicians, where you get more freedom to try out different
things like: Bon Iver, Damien Rice, Jose Gonzalez, those are some of my
influences. Music has been my escape, my life force
ever since I was fourteen when I moved to a small isolated town in
Finland. Writing and playing music is my drug of choice, when times get
tough and I feel down and out, I revert back to music. Some people
choose marijuana I choose Nick Drake's "Mary Jane". I feed off music, I
need it to survive. Although I've always been serious about music, I
have never tried that hard at getting myself out there. I am a shy -
lazy soul, so it takes constant arguing with myself just to go out to a
open mic, but I try to do a couple gigs every couple of months, and so
far I've been successful in sticking to that "regime". I would love to
be able to make music my career, to make money off of it, but regardless
of whether that happens, I will always be playing and making new music
until the day I die.

Owl is Lethbridge’s newest Lounge in the same building which had Mood, Squeaky’s Pub before and O Riley’s before that. They feature live acoustic music and excellent food. |
