Contemporary and classical, we begin the evening with Rolf Boon’s Adagio for Strings. An active composer and professor, Dr. Boon teaches at the University of Lethbridge. One of the Haydn’s best-known works, Symphony No. 88, provides many hallmarks of his playful and highly intelligent compositional style. Finally, the LSO welcomes the Chinook Chamber Singers for the Lord Nelson Mass, or Missa in Angustiis (Mass for Troubled Times). Completed near the end of his life, H.C. Robbins Landon has written that this composition “is arguably Haydn’s greatest single composition.”
