It’s been a busy year so far for Lindsay, Ontario’s The Strumbellas.
The band hit the ground running with a win for Roots & Traditional
Album Of The Year at the 2014 JUNO Awards in March for their sophomore
album, We Still Move On Dance Floors. In May they took home the SiriusXM
Indies award for Folk Group Of The Year. This summer they pull up
stakes and head out for a slew of summer festivals across Canada as well as their first tour on the Pacific Northwest of America.
FolkPop, RockGrass, AltCountry… whatever you want to call it, there’s
plenty to go around on The Strumbellas’ most recent release, We Still
Move On Dance Floors (October 2013). For the album, the band headed to
the woods of the pacific north west, settling in at Bear Creek Studio
just outside of Seattle to record with Grammy nominated producer, Ryan
Hadlock (Metric, Gossip, Moondoggies, The Lumineers). It seemed a
natural progression for the band, whose dark lyrics about death and
solitude crop up amongst beautiful lyrical mindscapes of trees and lakes
and home.
"As one of Canada’s finest country-roots bands,
Ontario’s Strumbellas do not disappoint with their sophomore record, We
Still Move On Dance Floors. From the rollicking Did I Die and Home Sweet
Home through more sullen moments like album closer The Fire, the future
looks incredibly bright for The Strumbellas." Musicnerd.ca

Edmonton four- piece The Provincial Archive just completed a successful first leg of their Canadian tour with dates in Ontario, Quebec and two jaw dropping performances at BreakOut West in Winnipeg, all in support of their acclaimed new long player It’s All Shaken Wonder. With their hometown album release recently celebrated on October 17, the band is now preparing to bring the show through a string of western Canadian dates sharing the stage with The Stumbellas and a second trip across the Atlantic this year for European dates with Talking To Turtles.
As
a DIY-motivated project, and as a group dedicated to the shape of their
output, the band looks forward to the chance for everyone to hear the
new release, and to tour this fall. Message from the band:
“We
always want the creative decisions that we make in this project to
speak up and speak for themselves. And we hope that everyone gets to
hear that. We like to challenge ourselves so that when we release new
music, it’s something that we feel is a contribution.
It’s a personal pursuit, and we've always thought that personal creative work needs some personal outreach. For the release of our first and second recordings, a few years back, we DIY’d everything to do with this project: self-recorded, self-designed, self-released, self-booked, and self-publicized.
So, in keeping with our roots, as we head out in November to conquer dates in Canada and Europe we wanted to make sure we got a word in with you: conversation is an important part of music, and we’re just making eye-contact with you as we keep on keepin' on with the dialog. We hope you’ll give our latest release a listen. And if you want to chat about music, or performing, or anything else, that’d be cool too. Keep it real, please.

Quick Before It Melts
The Provincial Archive’s latest LP, It’s All Shaken Wonder, sees the band pushing themselves artistically. While the record may be the third full-length release from The Provincial Archive, it’s actually their first in-studio recording, which helped to shape to the band’s sonic progression.
