Lethbridge, AB: Made up of accomplished musicians from Southern Alberta, Edmonton, and Victoria, Southern Winds is sure to capture your musical attention. Many of our musicians are proud University of Lethbridge alumni or have a connection with Lethbridge.

Conducted by Dr. Thomas Staples, come and enjoy music that re ects early band and folk traditions, brings revolutionary history alive, and showcases the scope and grandeur of modern music for wind ensemble.

Revolutions, presented by Super 8 and EconoLodge Inn & Suites Lethbridge, features works by Robert Nelson, Karel Husa, Mark Camphouse, David Stanhope, Richard Wagner, and John Weinzweig.

Central to the program is Karel Husa’s Music for Prague 1968. Written 50 years ago, the work is a re ection on the Spring Reform movement in Czechoslovakia, winning a Pulitzer Prize for its bold, dramatic, and deeply moving musical interpretations of the event.

Join us for Revolutions, Southern Winds inaugural performance, on Saturday, May 19, at 7:30pm at Southminster United Church. Tickets are $15 (regular), and $10 (student/senior) and children 18 years of age and younger can attend free (everyone must have a ticket.) Tickets can be ordered online at southernwindsensemble.ca.
